Nominations for King Faisal Prize Open

Altaj news – The General Secretariat of the King Faisal Prize announced Thursday it will be receiving submissions for the $1-million annual award’s 46th edition, slated for 2024, under its five categories.

Secretary General of the King Faisal Prize Dr. Abdulaziz Alsebail pointed out that the prize committees have decided on the subjects of each category as follows:

• Islamic Studies: "Islamic Legislation and Contemporary Applications"
• Arabic Language and Literature: "Institutions’ Efforts to Promote Arabic Outside of the Arab World" 
• Medicine: "Treatments for Peripheral Disabilities"
• Science: "Biology"

He explained that the final category “Service to Islam” is only a recognition award that will be accorded to those who have played a leading role in service of Islam and Muslims, whether ideologically, scientifically or socially, or through various initiatives, activities, programs, and projects that have had a positive impact on the Muslim community.

Universities, scientific institutions, and research centers can submit their nominations until March 31, 2023, via airmail, e-mail, and the official website www.kingfaisalprize.org.

It is worthy to note that the King Faisal Prize, which was awarded for the first time in 1979, was received by 282 scientists and scholars from 44 countries, 21 of whom went on to receive the Nobel Prize.
